From the MOUSETRAP
#1
From the MOUSETRAP is a nice essay showing the shallowness of the warmist thinking, who limits themselves to a short time frame, when they should be looking at the big picture.

2/20/2014 Global Warming is a bunch of hot air

EXCERPT:

One of the most common logical fallacies we humans have is anchoring.  We tend to see only short term trends and ignore long term trends.  Nowhere is this more apparent than in the current “settled science” of global warming.

We are all familiar with the hockey stick graph showing a sudden spike in temperature corresponding to the modern industrial age.

A nice essay discussing the change over time of various data sets to show that the current interglacial period is clearly on a significant decline towards a cold phase.

12/17/2014 What would Climate Change look like?

EXCERPT:

In my February 20, 2014 post on this subject I showed the present spike of global warming in the context of the current Milankovitch cycle.  That post showed that we are on a long term declining temperature trend-line that started from the Holocene maximum
.  That Holocene maximum between 9,000 and 5,000 years ago was the warmest period in modern human history.  Since that time we have had a Late Bronze Age global warming spike, a Roman global warming spike, a medieval global warming spike, and a modern industrial global warming spike.  Each of those successive spikes has been lower than the previous one, and all have been lower than the Holocene maximum.

A nice essay discussing the two last TWO inter glacial periods and how they compare with each other.

12/18/2014 Two Global Warming Periods Compared

EXCERPT:

The following chart compares the current 20,000 year period of global warming with the previous one 133,000 years ago:

The whole idea of an "average global temperature" may very well be fallacious for a chaotic climate with chaotic temperatures on a planet that is not in thermodynamic equilibrium.  That number may just be an artifact of the averaging techniques used by warmists to promote their cause.  A very elegant and straightforward analysis (along with a not so straightforward analysis)  of temperature data by Dr. Darko Butina, a retired scientist with serious credentials in data analysis, clearly shows why this could be - no hedging words in his analysis - he is sure.  His work is available on the website 14patterns.com ( for some reason, if you just type that address in the address bar, the page may not be found. If you Google Darko Butina and look for the item in the google list with that address and click on it there , it shows up).

The paper is "Numerical Analysis of Temperature data at the Armagh Observatory.  Other papers by him on the website are also thought provoking and strike at the heart of the AGW claims.

If Butina is right, and other scientists have made this claim as well, the whole AGW theory falls flat on its face and no amount of juggling climate models or data is going to fix that.

Looking for Patterns in instrumental data

Darko Butina

EXCERPT:

Dr Darko Butina is a retired scientist with 20 years of experience in experimental side of Carbon-based chemistry and 20 years in pattern recognition and datamining of experimental data. He was part of the team that designed the first effective drug for treatment of migraine for which the UK-based company received The Queens Award. Twenty years on and the drug molecule Sumatriptan has improved quality of life for millions of migraine sufferers worldwide. During his computational side of drug discovery, he developed clustering algorithm, dbclus that is now de facto standard for quantifying diversity in world of molecular structures and recently applied to the thermometer based archived data at the weather stations in UK, Canada and Australia. The forthcoming paper clearly shows what is so very wrong with use of invented and non-existing global temperatures and why it is impossible to declare one year either warmer or colder than any other year. He is also one of the co-authors of the paper which was awarded a prestigious Ebert Prize as best paper for 2002 by American Pharmaceutical Association. He is peer reviewer for several International Journals dealing with modelling of experimental data and member of the EU grants committee in Brussels.

He also wrote this essay as well:

Why CO2 has nothing to do with temperatures

By Dr Darko Butina

EXCERPT:

Scientific literature and most science-based blog sites have been saturated with the hottest
topic of them all, the greenhouse theory, GHT, and the greenhouse gases classification, GHGC. This report
brings novelty to this discussion in two major waysit looks at our planet and atmosphere as a space full of molecules and it is written by a retired scientist who worked with molecules all his working life. All molecules are real, they all have very unique physico-chemical properties and all the numbers that you will see in this report are obtained by very accurate measurements.

First we need to esta
blish some basic definitions to avoid any confusion. The most concise description of GHT and GHGC that I found in literature comes from the recent report by John Christy, and I quote:
