AN UNHAPPY NEW YEAR
#1
I really cannot work up any enthusiasm for the new year. I just read that wind farms in the UK received some £5 million since December 15th to switch off while thousands spent Christmas with no power. And when they do get power back they will contribute to that £5 million! LINK

Welcome to our brave new world!

The other morning my good wife drew my attention to the BBC Radio program You and Yours where someone was discussing biodiesel and the problems it is creating. Water collecting in the fuel tanks, filters clogging before routine maintenance, engines losing power and using more fuel. Engines needing to be replaced before expected working life ends and so on. Couldn't find a link on the BBC site.

This morning I said to my wife, "I wonder how Stobart trucks are coping with the biodiesel problems?". She replied, "And what about those standby diesel generators that are supposed to provide instant backup electricity?"

YIKES! Yes indeed! What about them? Think of all that water collecting in the fuel tanks and then the remote 'start command' from the new computer management system. How many will start AND KEEP RUNNING???

And then the story of the New York stockbroker advising people to pack a gun and ammo in the 'bug out bag' because of the possibility of a financial crash in the new year worse than the 1930's.

Don't take it to heart if I don't wish you all a happy new year.

Yup, feeling much the same here, so, I went to Maplins and for £40 bought a remote controlled helicopter. It is charging off a USB socket as I type. Later we will have fun trying to fly it from one book to another..

It is utterly amazing the technology one can buy these days. Heck my new computer has a solid state hard drive..... Who'd of thought.

You know those idiots will not win, they simply can not. Ok, so with £180 billion promised by the EU for the "good fight" in Poland recently they can buy a lot of air time, but in the end the truth will out. No amount of cash can stop that.

Illegitimi non carborundum

Plans for how to communicate to more are afoot, AND, Richard111 YOU are one of those I will be asking in regards of wording / does it come across, etc, etc. May be you would like to consider a cameo video appearance too. I will be asking SST and Questioning Climate as well in the near future, as well as Alan Siddons, Hans, John, and a couple of others.

So, I DO wish you and all a very good, happy, merry, and be positive new year Richard111, and to your wonderful wife too.

I always hope the new year is better than the one I am leaving.

Well said SST, and you Derek. Good to know you are confident about the future.
As for global warming... I'm confident the warmists will lose out, but it will still take a couple more years. The current WINTER WEATHER over the whole of the northern hemisphere should make people think even if the MSM tries to pretend this is the warmest winter ever. Real giggle over the recent events in Antarctica.

Sadly the current UK weather of extreme wind and rain from the south southwest has shown up a severe problem in three of my windows. They are leaking! I can't see where from the outside. I have double beaded all joints but still the water is getting into the walls. Because the outside has a very effective water proof skin the water is appearing on the INSIDE through the plaster board. Result -- MOULD! Looks like those windows will have to be removed and refitted. Will have to wait for better weather before I can start. This means I won't have as much free time to spend on the computer.

Also I am getting very disillusioned about a lot of our top sceptics who insist CO2 DOES have some effect on climate but NEVER explain how it works. All they have to explain is how the CO2 in the atmosphere, effectively a limited black body, and constantly radiating over the 13 to 17 micron bands at temperatures far less than the surface which is radiating over the same 13 to 17 micron bands yet that CO2 can absorb that same band of radiation and warm the surrounding air and the surface. Just typing that raises my blood pressure!

Simplified question; how can any material body, radiating a specific band of radiation BECAUSE OF ITS CURRENT TEMPERATURE, absorb that same band of radiation from ANY OTHER SOURCE EVEN THOUGH THE SOURCE IS AT A HIGHER TEMPERATURE???

I am very tired of reading about TEMPERATURES.

Look we simply CAN NOT have you spending LESS time at the computer, so may I suggest the solution that we have just used, and it has worked far better than we thought it would.

A de-humidifier.
We got this one from a local B&Q - it works very, very well, a once damp room / wet windows is no longer.

It may be that you have sealed everything so well that there is no ventilation and hence moisture must build up. That appears to have been the case for us, and has created the need for a de-humidifier.
