BBC biased? Surely not!

I foung this first on GREENIE WATCH. This is their source.

Quote:So now we really know why BBC staffers are so fanatical about 'climate change'. It's naked self-interest. In 2008, there were 18,736 contributors to the BBC pension fund; every man jack of them benefits from climate alarmism.

Read it all. Quite scary.

It may be worth mentioning Part 4 of this thread, in relation to the BBC, IIGCC, and
Eco-Imperialism – every Environmentalist’s Dream

Dereks approach (and why) to moderation and discussion in this sub forum.

Excerpt,
The number of vested interests in AGW are too numerous to mention.
I have not, for instance, mentioned pensions at all yet.
Have you heard of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC), a network of 26 pension funds? (I am sure this number is actually quite a bit larger..)
The Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) is a forum for
collaboration on climate change for European investors.

If your pension is with one of the listed members of the IIGCC, then may be the IIGCC should be of interest to you, and

I have not mentioned Robert Napier either. The below link should suffice..

He is a very, very busy man indeed..

In the private forum here on a thread some time ago I listed just some of Napier's recent jobs / appointments.

BBC TV has been blathering along all day about how this is the wettest January for the UK since records started in 1910!

So I looked up the history of the Met Office:

and I took a screen dump in case this 'history' changes.

Is the BBC telling the truth? What do you think?

I make it 1861 when the Met Office started publishing weather forecasts.

My guess is the Met Office staff have never had a lesson on company history, or they have forgotten it.

Record wet January for parts of southern Britain

Quote:30 January 2014 - Early Met Office statistics for January 2014 show that the southeast and central southern England region has already had its wettest January in records going back to 1910, with three days still to go.

Three days still to go? Just how many days are there in a Met Office month for January? Huh

On thinking about this I can't really blame the BBC for misleading me about the Met Office record keeping. The problem here is definitely with the Met Office.

So grudging apology to the BBC, they could have checked the Met Office history themselves.

I don't know about how long the forecasting history is, but I do think it's important to keep in mind that the UK is pretty small geographically.... 94,000 square miles / 243,000 square kilometers... or roughly 0.04% of the surface of the Earth. So how indicative is 'record wet' over such a small area anyway?
